Carolyn Scott Photography

I was recently contacted by Carolyn Scott from Carolyn Scott Photography to do an interview for her blog.  One of the things I love the most about what I do is being able to meet other people who are living their dream.  Check out her website and you will fall in love her style of photography.  It's obvious that she enjoys what she does and I'd be happy to recommend her to any of my brides.

Thanks Carolyn!

She Does it Again...

Kim, from The TomKat Studio, has again created the most perfect party that I've ever seen for her perfectly beautiful daughter, Kate.  Seriously?  I think she does this to make the rest of us moms look bad.  Look at these photos:

The Dessert Table

Garden Fairy Tu-Tu's

Cake Pops

Chocolate Covered Oreo Pops

Fairy Wands

Kate's Personalized Fairy Wreath

Butterfly Decorations

Fairy Cookies

The Cake

The Cupcakes

The Perfect Fairy Princess

See what I mean?  Kim - you are an inspiration to us all.  We want to hate you but we can't because you also happen to be so stinkin' nice.  Kate is a lucky girl!

If you want to read more, visit Kim at The Tomkat Studio.  I promise, it will become one of your daily reads.

Curious George and Kevin Henegar!

I recently posted a picture (using my cheap camera and horrible photography skills) of some monkey cupcakes that I made for our friend and favorite photographer, Kevin Henegar.  He sent me some beautiful shots from the Curious George birthday party him and his wife, Elysa held for their son, Adam and gave me permission to share them on my blog.  Check these out:

This last picture has nothing to do with cupcakes but I just love how Kevin was able to capture this moment of pure happiness on Adam's face.  Way to go Kevin and Happy Birthday, Adam!!!!

French Macarons - My Latest Obsession

Celebrations.com calls 'French Macarons' a chic alternative for the adult party favor.

I call them my new best friend.

The thing I love the most about these delicous treats is that there are countless possibilities for flavors and colors (to match any party or event).  The one's I made today were raspberry chocolate and they were unbelievable!  My husband and I sat down today and came up with a list of flavors we would like to try and create:   chocolate caramel, chocolate passion fruit, peanut butter & jelly, tiramisu, chocolate bacon (yum!), bailey's irish cream, chocolate mint, cappuccino, key lime, rose, caramel and sea salt, vanilla bean, lavender scented...yikes.  I think I'm going to be busy.

Aren't they beautiful?  I am secretly hoping to have perfected them by the time we start selling our products at farmer's markets in May.  Wish me luck and have a happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

They look like they taste happy

I just got an email from a friend who found one of my cupcake pictures on a blog they recently read...the quote underneath the picture was "They look like they taste happy".  I think they taste happy too.  =)

Home Made Marshmallow Peeps

Today, I tried my hand at making home made marshmallow peeps.  I used Alton Brown's recipe and found an awesome tutorial here at Twig & Thistle.

Instead of waiting for the marshmallow to set and dry - I piped the mixture into the chick shapes using a frosting bag and tip.

Then I sprinkled them with pale pink and green sanding sugar and painted the little eyes using lemon extract and brown food coloring.

For those of you who want to give these a try, I definitely recommend it - it was fun, easy, and the flavor and texture is unbelievable.

For the rest of you, you're in luck!  In celebration of Easter, we are giving away one free bag of home made marshmallow peeps with any cupcake purchase!  Just place your order here or call us at 919-247-2927 between now and next Sunday, April 4th (local orders only, please).

Easter {Party Ideas}

I love Easter.  I love the crisp feel of spring air, the pastel colors, the bonnets and smocked dresses.  In my opinion, Easter is the perfect backdrop to a killer party.  Last year, I was about a week away from giving birth to Jack and it took all of my energy just to throw together some tacky Easter baskets for Emily and Abby, so this year I fully plan on basking in the Easter festivities!  Here are some of my inspiration pictures (all pictures are courtesy of Country Living):
